Durga Puja In Delhi

DN and I navigated the streets and markets of New Delhi last night to experience the festivities of Navratri and the Durga Puja. I wanted to capture the essence of the celebration before the sun set completely. My camera takes bad night pictures because there is no option to turn the flash off. :/

So enjoy these pictures, and read more about Durga Puja here.

Note: DN took many of these pictures.

Tinsel strung from building to building. ♥

I wanted to capture the tinsel and the hanging lights. The silhouette was a bonus.

As I was taking this picture, again focusing on the string of lights, a woman was walking by with a mama and baby buffalo!

We wandered down a curtained corridor and into a well decorated hall. I was in love with the pink and creme colors.

In the hall, people were preparing for Durga Puja. ♥

Wandering further down the street… We noticed temples set up everywhere. To the right is a small temple for Maa Durga.

DN went to pray, and as a bonus, he took this picture for me.

This beautiful cloth was everywhere. It’s called lal chunri. These stalls were also abundant and had everything you’d need for Durga Puja

P1000873

Another Durga Puja preparation.

Everything seemed to come together nicely, in this picture.

DN captured it too!

And the lights of the marketplace begin! ♥

Should be called “stars on strings”.

We prayed at a temple on our way back to my apartment. ♥

Anyway, we were both pretty excited to share that with you. This has been a post from Crystal AND DN! 🙂
